🏕️ Comfy PlushPals! Joins the Haunted PS1 Summer Camp Jam
Hey Plushpals! After spending some time working on Comfy PlushPals!, I decided to take the game on a little camping trip of its own by entering it into the Haunted PS1 Summer Camp Jam! 🏕️🎮
The jam was a perfect excuse to lean even further into the PS1-inspired look and feel that I had already been experimenting with. Instead of trying to make something huge, I wanted to keep the project small, focused, and cozy while still giving it that wonderfully crunchy low-poly look that makes old-school PlayStation games so memorable.
For this version of Comfy PlushPals!, the idea was to focus on a small camping experience centered around Cabin 42. You play as Cozy and get to spend some time relaxing, exploring, and just enjoying the little space around you.
One of the things I really liked about making a game for the jam was having to think about what was actually important. Rather than trying to build every idea I had for Comfy PlushPals!, I could focus on creating a small slice of the world and making that slice feel fun to spend time in.
Entering the jam also gave me a chance to experiment with the game's atmosphere. The low-poly environments, simple character models, lighting, and PS1-style presentation all help give the game its own little identity while keeping that warm, nostalgic feeling.
It's still a small project, but that's part of the fun! Comfy PlushPals! started as an experiment in making a cozy raising simulator with a little bit of Rizz ✨😏✨, and the Haunted PS1 Summer Camp Jam gave me a reason to turn that idea into something playable.
There's still plenty more I want to do with the Plushpals, but for now I'm happy to have Cozy, Cabin 42, and this little slice of the Comfy PlushPals! out and in the world.
